Lizzo took to social media last night (December 9th) to respond to the backlash she received for wearing cut-out pants at a Lakers game. On Sunday night (December 8th), the rapper/singer was courtside at the Lakers-Timberwolves game at Staples Center when the Laker Girls performed her hit “Juice.” When the song came on, Lizzo got up, turned around and started twerking, revealing her cut-out booty pants. The moment was captured on the Jumbotron.
After the game, Lizzo said while walking backstage, “This is how a bad b*tch goes to the Lakers game.”
After receiving backlash for her outfit, Lizzo took to social media to respond, saying, “Who I am and the essence of me and the things I chose to do as a grown a** woman can inspire you to do the same. You don't have to be like me. You need to be like you. Never, ever let somebody stop you or shame you for being yourself. This is how I've always been. Now everyone's looking at it. And your criticism can just remain your criticism.”
She continued, “Your criticism has no affect over me . . . I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm surrounded by love and I just want to spread that love and . . . spread these cheeks! I'm surrounded by love and I just want to spread that love and spread these cheeks! And you know what if you really really don't like my a**, you can kiss it.” 'Cause kissing it makes it go away. I promise.”
Lizzo added that she understands that it is “shocking” to some people for a body that looks like hers and does what it wants and wears what it wants.
In other news, Lizzo has released a new video for her song “Good as Hell.”
